Her legislative record began in the Illinois capitol. As a Southwest Airlines flight attendant and member of Transport Workers Union Local 556, Corliss led a multi-year campaign to pass the Illinois Sick Leave Act for Aviation Workers. The law extended family sick leave rights to flight attendants, pilots, mechanics, and ramp workers, and the win inspired similar efforts in other states. She has since advised unions and organizations across the country on how to move legislation through grassroots advocacy. She continues to be the subject matter expert in the arena of the labor force subject to the Railway Labor Act (RLA) and aviation worker advocacy.
Corliss founded United Black Aviation Unionists to advance equity in the aviation industry. She is a former vice president of TWU Local 556, a former Vice President of the Illinois AFL-CIO, and a former member of the Finance Committee of the Chicago Federation of Labor. She serves on the board of Experimental Station.
